ANGIE VITAL-MARTOWSKI

Co-Artistic Director

Angie began her dance career at the young age of three, studying every aspect of dance. She spent her summers dancing at nationally renowned ballet programs such as Princeton Ballet, Boston Ballet, Jacobs Pillow and White Mountain Dance Festival. She studied locally at The New England Dance Conservatory (NEDC) with Shelley Zeibel and Ken Liptiz and performed as a soloist with their Company New England Dance Theater.

Angie received the “Chancellor’s Award” from the University of Massachusetts, but passed on the award to study and dance professionally. She has performed with Boston Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, American Repertory Ballet Theater, Ballet South, Albany Berkshire Ballet, Hartford Ballet, Disney, Universal Studios, MTV, and local Musical Theater productions. She has worked with artists such as Twyla Tharp, Bruce Marks, Laura Young, Dermet Burk, Mary Pat Robinson, and Septime Webre. After leaving Boston, she returned to Western Mass to teach at her alma Mater NEDC. Angie received her teacher certification in both dance and Early Childhood education and taught for 10 years at the Springfield JCC. Angie wanted to explore her vision of dance education. She received her degree in Ballet Pedagogy from The Hartt School and in the fall of 2000 The Dance Studio of Wilbraham opened its doors. Angie has spent 23 years growing the program and has dedicated her career to educating the public on dance and its benefits.


She is now a member of The National Dance Education Organization, National Dance Week, and is certified in the Vaganova Ballet Technique. She currently is on faculty at Springfield College as an adjunct professor of Dance and Movement. She has been awarded the Best of Boston Road Award twice for favorite dance teacher. Angie is certified in many group exercise techniques and has developed her own workout, Ballet Booty Bootcamp. BBBC is a barre style fitness class that is offered at The Dance Studio as part of the Adult Dance Fitness Series.


Angie and her husband Jason have 2 children and are celebrating 13 years of marriage.
